Faith formation is much more than simply teaching about God. God is a "someone," not a "something." Faith formation is one of the ways our parish community can help one another, especially parents and young people, to know and love God, serve others, and to live the life to which Jesus calls us. This means a lot more than can be read in a book -- it is a formation in the Christian way of life. In doing this, we obey the call of Jesus to make disciples of all nations and teach his commands (Mt 28:19-20).

In doing this we help one another to seek true and lasting happiness that only comes from knowing God and walking in his ways:
"Your word is lamp to my feet and a light to my path"
Ps 119:105

How Family Formation Works For Parishes

Family Formation combines a quarterly gathering (where children and parents meet together) weekly family Home Lessons where parents, equipped with materials and an understanding of the lessons, discuss the Faith. This is supported by weekly student sessions.

Monthly Church Gatherings

  • Families (grades 2-11) gather at church one quarter per month for 1 hour and 15 minutes..
  • Parents and students are learning about the same topic of Faith.
  • Classroom catechists are provided complete curriculum, which is easy to use and engaging for the students.
  • Families are given a packet of weekly Home Materials which explain the upcoming lessons and provide a vehicle for family discussion.

Weekly Family Home Materials

  • Enable parents to be the primary educators of their children in the Catholic Faith.
  • Are easy-to-use.
  • Include games, activities, and booklets to keep learning fun.
  • Are designed for kids in Grades 2-11.
  • Bring the whole family together as they study each lesson and then apply it to their day-to-day family life.
  • Reinforce Sunday Mass-Family Formation lessons reflect the liturgical year and immerse families into the life and seasons of the Church.
