Text Box: Dear Parishioners and Friends,
A few weeks ago, I wrote and invited you to consider becoming a Disciple of the School of St. Philip by making a donation of $500.00 or more for this academic school year. In appreciation for your contribution, you will be invited to attend the specially created classes that will be held for the Disciples. In addition, our school children will remember you in their prayers. Several individuals have already responded and have become a Disciple. There is still time for you to join. Please see the brochure that was mailed to you or pick up an additional copy located in the gather area of the church. You may also want to encourage and ask a friend or former parishioner to become a member of the Disciples of St. Philip. Remember all contributions are tax deductible.
Please call Diana McCarney or myself if you have any further questions.
Sincerely Yours, Fr Joe Steinbeisser

Father Christopher Glancy, C.S.V., a member of the Clerics of St. Viator (more informally known as the Viatorians), is speaking at all the Masses this weekend inviting our prayers and financial support for the Viatorians missionary work in Colombia, South America, Belize, Central America and the Ivory Coast, Africa.  Let us warmly welcome Father Glancy and respond generously to this important appeal.

All are invited to Valleyfair on Sunday, September  14. The youth group is sponsoring a fun day at Valleyfair for all families, parishioners and friends. Tickets cost is $21.50 and transportation will be $8.00 for a church bus ride. We need 20 participants pre-paid by Monday, September 1 to make the trip happen. Call the youth minister at 593-4777 or 693-4136 to register.

The school year is about to begin at The School of    St. Philip.  The teachers will be meeting and preparing their classrooms on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  We are excited to be implementing the new Scott Forseman Reading Street language arts curriculum this year.

Back to School Night for all the school families is scheduled for Wednesday, August 27, beginning at 6:00 p.m. with a hot dog supper on the newly paved parking lot.  This is hosted by our school committee.  Students may bring all supplies and move into their desks as they tour the school and meet their teachers.     Please remember us all in your prayers as we prepare for another year of  “providing students with a fundamentally sound education in a Catholic atmosphere which will enable them to carry their faith and learning beyond this school.”            (The School of St. Philip Mission Statement)
